The 980-9I71G-00J000 is a Mellanox (NVIDIA) QSFP+ to SFP+ adapter module, commonly referred to as a QSA (QSFP to SFP+ Adapter). Unlike traditional optical transceivers, this device does not generate optical signals itself—instead, it allows a standard SFP+ transceiver or cable to be used inside a QSFP+ port.This adapter enables a 40GbE QSFP+ port to operate as a 10GbE SFP+ port, providing flexibility in network design and allowing backward compatibility with existing 10Gb infrastructure. It is especially useful in data centers and enterprise networks where mixed-speed environments exist or during gradual upgrades from 10G to 40G.
