407-BBCN Overview

The Dell 407-BBCN is a dual-rate SFP+ optical transceiver designed to support both 1Gbps and 10Gbps Ethernet over multi-mode fiber. Operating at an 850nm wavelength, it is suitable for short-range high-speed connections in data centers and enterprise networks.This module uses a duplex LC connector and requires two fiber strands for transmit and receive. It supports 10GBASE-SR for 10Gbps links and is backward compatible with 1000BASE-SX, making it ideal for mixed-speed environments.The transceiver is hot-swappable and includes Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM), allowing real-time monitoring of parameters such as temperature, voltage, and optical power. It uses VCSEL laser technology and can reach distances up to 300–400 meters depending on fiber type.
