CFP-100G-LR4 Overview
This 100GBase-LR4 CFP module with Cisco data center networking equipment and equivalent to Cisco. It is designed for 4x25G OTN client interfaces and 100G Ethernet links over single mode fiber. It conforms to CFP MSA, IEEE 802.3ba 100GBASE-LR4, and OTU4 4I1-9D1F, and supports digital diagnostics through the MDIO interface. It converts the 4 input channel into a 4-channel LAN WDM optical signal, then it is multiplexed as a single-channel to realize 100Gb/s optical transmission. At the receiver side, the module converts the 100Gb/s optical input into a 4-channel LAN WDM optical signal and transforms it into a 4-channel electrical data output channel.

As metropolitan (metro) transport networks grow from 2.5-generation (2.5G) services to 10G and eventually 40G, the underlying optical systems need to compensate for the lower chromatic dispersion tolerances on the 10G and 40G interfaces. In optical networks, the dispersion compensation unit (DCU) compensates for accumulated chromatic dispersion effect in fiber. It provides a flexible solution for accumulated chromatic dispersion without dropping and regenerating the wavelengths on the link, a process that would otherwise be necessary when accumulated chromatic dispersion exceeds the maximum allowed dispersion tolerance. GLC-BX40-D-I Overview
A GLC-BX40-D-I or GLC-BX40-DA-I device connects to a GLC-BX40-U-I device with a single strand of standard SMF with an operating transmission range up to 40 km. The communication over a single strand of fiber is achieved by separating the transmission wavelength of the two devices. This GLC-BX40-DA-I, and GLC-BX40-U-I SFPs also support digital optical monitoring (DOM) functions according to the industry-standard SFF-8472 multisource agreement (MSA). This feature gives the end user the ability to monitor real-time parameters of the SFP, such as optical output power, optical input power, temperature, laser bias current, and transceiver supply voltage.
