WIC-1B-U Overview

CISCO 1 Port ISDN BRI WAN Interface Card. This is a WAN Interface Card (WIC) designed for use with Cisco routers. This WIC provides a single port for connecting to an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Basic Rate Interface (BRI) connection with a Network Termination 1 (NT1) interface. This also supports Cisco’s proprietary Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP), which provides an additional layer of security for PPP connections. CHAP uses a randomly generated challenge string that is sent to the remote user, who must then respond with the correct value. This ensures that only authorized users are able to access your network.
