CFP-100G-LR4 Overview
This 100GBase-LR4 CFP module with Cisco data center networking equipment and equivalent to Cisco. It is designed for 4x25G OTN client interfaces and 100G Ethernet links over single mode fiber. It conforms to CFP MSA, IEEE 802.3ba 100GBASE-LR4, and OTU4 4I1-9D1F, and supports digital diagnostics through the MDIO interface. It converts the 4 input channel into a 4-channel LAN WDM optical signal, then it is multiplexed as a single-channel to realize 100Gb/s optical transmission. At the receiver side, the module converts the 100Gb/s optical input into a 4-channel LAN WDM optical signal and transforms it into a 4-channel electrical data output channel.

In optical networks, the dispersion compensation unit (DCU) compensates for accumulated chromatic dispersion effect in fiber. It provides a flexible solution for accumulated chromatic dispersion without dropping and regenerating the wavelengths on the link, a process that would otherwise be necessary when accumulated chromatic dispersion exceeds the maximum allowed dispersion tolerance.
