WS-X5031 Overview
The Cisco WS-X5031 is a Token Ring switching module for the Catalyst 5000 Series, offering 16 fiber-based Token Ring ports designed to provide high-performance connectivity for enterprise networks built on Token Ring technology. Each port supports standard Token Ring operation at 4 or 16 Mbps and uses fiber interfaces to extend reach, reduce electromagnetic interference, and provide secure, reliable connections over longer distances compared to copper. The WS-X5031 integrates with Catalyst 5000 Supervisor Engines to take advantage of centralized switching, VLAN support, and network management capabilities, helping organizations segment and control traffic within Token Ring environments.
