The ST2000NM0055 (Enterprise Capacity 3.5 V.5) from Seagate is an enterprise-class 2TB 3.5-inch internal hard drive designed for high-density cloud storage, data centers, and enterprise bulk data applications. Operating at 7,200 RPM with a 128MB cache buffer, it leverages a SATA III (6Gbps) interface to deliver reliable, sequential data throughput for 24/7 mission-critical environments.
Engineered for heavy workloads, this drive features a native 512n sector format to ensure seamless backward compatibility with legacy enterprise systems and applications. It is built to handle a robust workload rating of 550TB per year and incorporates advanced rotational vibration tolerance technology to maintain consistent, stable performance when tightly packed inside multi-drive server racks.

The latest generation 15K RPM Enterprise Hard Disk Drives (MBA Series) continue to represent some of the fastest enterprise 3.5-inch hard disk drives in the industry. Leveraging our technology expertise and heritage, we deliver reliable, high-capacity HDDs for your customer’s most demanding storage applications.

With 7mm ultra-thin hard drives all the rage, Hitachi aims to blast one out of the park with its new 500GB single-platter Z5K500 – that’s right, 500GB on a single platter. Getting to this higher capacity in such a slim package has been a big deal for drive manufactures, since in the 7mm drive space you are limited to a single drive platter, instead of two in a 9.5mm drive or three in a 12.5mm drive. While capacity might be the biggest selling point of this drive, it is also important to see how well it does in the performance category.

The range of scores (95th – 5th percentile) for the WD Blue 2.5″ 320GB (2009) is 27.9%. This is a relatively narrow range which indicates that the WD Blue 2.5″ 320GB (2009) performs reasonably consistently under varying real world conditions.
