SA3400D Overview
The SA3400D from Synology is a 2U rackmount enterprise NAS featuring 12 hot-swappable drive bays engineered for maximum uptime. It utilizes an active-passive dual-controller architecture linked via an internal Non-Transparent Bridge (NTB), allowing the standby controller to instantly take over data services if the primary unit fails. Each controller is powered by an 8-core Intel Xeon Silver processor and 16GB of DDR4 ECC Registered memory (expandable to 128GB). Built strictly for enterprise SAS HDDs and SSDs, it includes dual 1GbE and 10GbE ports per controller, a PCIe Gen 3.0 slot for 10/25GbE network upgrades, and scales up to 36 drive bays via two RXD1219gl expansion units.
