UC3400 Overview
The UC3400 from Synology is an enterprise-class, 2U rackmount storage system featuring 12 hot-swappable drive bays engineered for high-availability SAN environments and mission-critical virtualization. It utilizes an active-active dual-controller architecture that operates simultaneously to deliver non-disruptive, instant failover protection if one unit goes offline. Each individual controller is powered by an 8-core Intel Xeon processor and equipped with 8GB of ECC memory, which is expandable up to 64GB. For networking, it features built-in 1GbE and 10GbE ports alongside PCIe slots for upgrading to high-speed 10/25GbE network cards or Fibre Channel HBAs. Designed for enterprise scalability, the system supports 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SAS HDDs or SSDs and can expand up to 36 total drive bays by daisy-chaining two RXD1219gl expansion units.
