The Cisco WS-CBS3120X-S is a Catalyst Blade Switch designed for integration into IBM BladeCenter systems, delivering high-performance networking directly inside the blade chassis. It belongs to the Cisco Catalyst 3100 Series, specifically the 3120X model, which is optimized for environments requiring 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks in addition to standard Gigabit Ethernet server connectivity.This switch provides 8 internal downlink ports that connect directly to the BladeCenter’s server backplane, each supporting 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet for blade server communication. On the uplink side, the 3120X-S is equipped with two X2-based 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, allowing connections to the network aggregation or core layer with significantly higher bandwidth than traditional Gigabit uplinks. Additionally, it includes expansion capability for further uplink flexibility if required.
