The Western Digital VelociRaptor is a high-performance 10,000 RPM mechanical hard drive designed to deliver faster access times and improved responsiveness compared to standard 7200 RPM drives. With its 80GB capacity, it was intended for operating systems and performance-critical applications in desktops and workstations before SSDs became mainstream. The high spindle speed significantly reduces latency, allowing quicker file access and better overall system responsiveness in mechanical storage environments.This drive uses a SATA 3Gbps interface and a 16MB cache to improve data handling efficiency.
